I really loved Swimming for Sunlight because of the realistic way Allie Larkin portrays extreme anxiety and of the manner in which other characters accept and deal with the feelings that Katie experiences. The story itself is a loving tribute to Katie’s Nan and her friends, all former mermaid performers who gather together for a fund raising performance. And, there is Lucas, cinematographer and Katie’s true love who will steal your heart.

I am an avid reader and have been since the dawn of civilization or at least since what a word was dawned on me. I remember first reading a VW billboard for a Beetle when I was a kid as my first Aha! moment with reading. Madeline books were my favorites, so much so that I bought them for my girls. I always have a book somewhere at hand and usually my nose is buried in it. Suspense-Chick Lit-Thriller-Romance-Family Complications all are my novels of choice. Psychological thrillers drive me nuts. Not too much into paranormal or sci-fi either. I will be honest, though, in that if a book does not get me by the second or third chapter, I'll generally abandon it ord ti just jump to the ending. For me, life is too short and time is too costly to waste them on a book that does not grab and hold me. View all posts by paulalala09
