Charlotte finds a dating podcast and decides to follow the challenges of the caster to some great and some not so great adventures. I did not find the book to be funny as purported by the blurbs for it. Most of the parts about Charlotte’s life are disagreeable: her best friend becomes very remote, her new roommate has stalker troubles, her new man is married, and her boss is an overbearing tyrant.
It is a good book to read but not in the funny, laugh out loud vein.
The Winner’s Circle is such a cute story about three friends in middle age, two who embark on an adventure when one of them wins the lotto big time. The third friend, newly married to a pastor, remains in their small town to do damage control when things for the travelers go way south. There are some crazy, funny scenes that happen to delight and tickle the funny bone.
The Unhoneymooners is the absolute best summer/vacation/staycation book I have read yet. It is funny, ironic, engaging, and just plan terrific. The push and pull of the main characters, Olive and Ethan, is so well written and so well played by the authors. Everything you think can go wrong does go wrong and just when you think it is all solved, more disaster happens to Olive and Ethan. At many points, I could not stop laughing (or crying a little.)
Meant to Be is a sweet little novel about second chances, if the couple will let their guards down and let the universe take over. There is nothing like second guesses to put the brakes on love and it seems both Sidney Larson and Brett Carmichael are so good at making them to the point that you want them to get out of their heads and into the action.
If you are looking for a hold your breath thriller this is the one! Just all the information and threats of an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) is enough to scare the living days out of you, especially since the information and threats are reality based.
The story is full on rapid movement that will get your heart going at every turn. It’s an excellent novel, just excellent!
Janet Daily writes such pleasing and engaging novels that reach hearts and capture interest.
A strong devoted wife is the center of Letters from Peaceful Lane, a wife who refused to give up or give in. Against a scrupulous business partner, a belligerent teen step-daughter and a , seemingly, distant husband, Allison Caldwell fights to save her marriage and her husband’s business. All the while she is learning clues to her husband from letters she finds from his deceased first wife.
I loved this engaging novel for its true to life drama possibilities and for all of the angst that accompanies it. The hesitancy and doubt that crowds and overshadows Cat’s mind are so believable and touching. I found myself repeatedly rooting got Harvey as he waited on Cat to realize that he is the one. I loved it so much that I bought another Keris Stainton novel!
Jamie Beck writes a book that contains true and raw emotions that pours from the characters as they try to navigate their stories. In The Promise of Us are three once close friends, one of whom was horribly and painfully hurt by another. Claire was deeply hurt by her friend, Peyton’s, actions and now Peyton is trying to make amends. Peyton’s brother, Logan, is working to ease the way for Peyton with Claire and finds himself enamored by Claire to his surprise. But, can Logan alone crush the impenetrable wall around Claire’s heart when it comes to Peyton?
Life runs uncertainly for three friends when one of them suggests New Year’s resolutions named the Happiness Project. I loved reading about the struggles of Kate, Allison and Frankie as they try to complete their individual challenges. Plus, life keeps shooting arrows into their paths to try and deter their efforts. Maybe they will succeed, may not but they are sure to give it 100% effort through it all.
This is a deeply touching and captivating novel about a couple who are meant to be but are torn apart by the choice one of them makes. Ambri and Henry have been best friends since high school. He dates her sister who learns she is dying and her last request is to be married. Henry agrees to it but the consequences for him are dire. Devastated by her death, Henry is consoled by her sister, his best friend. Ambri is his rock but one fateful night it all blows up in his face and he leaves her for two years. She has no idea why and is left with feelings too hard to bear.
The story is of their unlikely progression back to each other with all of the accompanying doubts, mistrust and pain to be handled.
